The film is about as silly as I hope I’ve made it sound and, more egregiously, tedious to boot. Go to Full Review

The role gives Jackson a lot to chew on, and to his credit, as always, he modulates between big and not-so-big with exemplary canniness. Go to Full Review

The visual effects are chintzy, Jackson’s performance is schticky, and even if Aleem’s script is cheesy, Harlin’s execution of it doesn’t elevate the material. "The Beast" is both a boor, and a bore. Go to Full Review

President or not, Jackson’s dialogue contributes to the movie’s solid “R” rating, but neither he nor Kinnaman can keep this one from becoming anything more than another blood-soaked grindhouse junker. Go to Full Review

A ferocious, claustrophobic action thriller propelled by Samuel L. Jackson’s commanding performance, gallows humor, and the unexpectedly affecting bond between two men fighting to survive. Go to Full Review

Renny Harlin's The Beast is an exercise in action movie absurdity that requires a certain amount of buy-in to truly enjoy – something I ultimately couldn't muster. Go to Full Review

Rich 1 hr ago Pretty bad but lots of shoot em up. See more Prophet R 6 hrs ago The Beast starts off promising with plenty of action, but the longer it goes, the more ridiculous it becomes. Samuel L. Jackson plays the president, a Vietnam veteran with the combat instincts, driving skills, and survival abilities of a Black Jason Statham. At some point, I forgot I was watching the president and not another Transporter sequel. While on crack, I decided to overlook some of the absurdity, but even that couldn't help me make sense of the ending. Taft had already taken several bullets and spent much of the movie fighting just to stay alive. Oscar even appears haunted by the possibility of losing him. Yet when everything falls apart, the president prepares to self-destruct The Beast and eventually escapes in another vehicle to reach his wife, Rosa. But where the hell was Taft? Did I miss his escape? Because I certainly don't remember seeing him get out. After all that emphasis on keeping him alive, the movie seemingly forgets about him. The action is decent, Samuel L. Jackson is entertaining, and the movie isn't particularly boring. But the questionable decisions, convenient storytelling, and increasingly absurd situations make it difficult to take seriously. A passable popcorn flick, but nothing memorable. The president survived, but I'm not entirely convinced the screenplay did. See more Yari 7 hrs ago Good acting , loved the action from start to finish! Yk Samuel Jackson gone do his thing. I do get what people are saying about the effects looking fake lol but honestly I didn’t really mind, just reminded me of old school movies . Overall I enjoyed it ! See more Paul 8 hrs ago For Samuel L Jackson fans only. Samuel L Jackson going through the motions for a paycheck. Action is all night scenes in a car. Unintended laughs from who-cares dialogue. Wait for streaming. See more L.M. Perez 10 hrs ago At times campy or borderline absurd, The Beast delights in every way. It is really just an extended monologue, or duologue, between the President and his injured Secret Service agent. There are genuine moments of bonding, reflection, and introspection as the President struggles to reunite with the First Lady and his primary security detail. And of course Sam Jackson delivers his iconic tag line gratuitously (IYKYK). Huge endorse for this film.
