I guess it all just boils down to simply this: The Bride isn’t a good movie by any stretch, but it’s strangely one I enjoyed more than it deserves, and I don’t regret watching it. It’s a vibe, and you should never apologize for what you vibe with.

I want to try to understand what Gyllenhaal was trying to do with this movie. I feel like it could’ve been a masterpiece but it was really all over the place. I’m a big fan of her and her brother which was why I was excited to see it since I’m not a big fan of horror movies in general which this really isn’t a horror movie. The good things were the visuals that filled the screen and the performances of the actors were fantastic but all in all it couldn’t save the movie.

Honestly? You're going to need to go into this one not expecting anything. It's very artsy - the cinematography is brilliant with many nods to classic filmmaking. If you're looking for it to look like every other movie, you will be disappointed. This movie fits under the film-noir genre.
