When a donor heart unexpectedly arrives at a New York hospital, an organ transplant committee must convene within one hour to decide which of three other patients deserves the life-saving heart. God's work is now left in the hands of five doctors, including Boxer (Kelsey Grammer), a cynical but brilliant heart surgeon; Jordan (Julia Stiles), an idealistic up-and-comer; and Gilroy (Janeane Garofalo), a weary bureaucrat. As the debate over the heart heats up, ethics and bribes clash, leaving the committee members to question what's more valuable: morals or money?

Kelsey Grammer is the eminent surgeon, a chain-smoking cynic; Julia Stiles is his young protegee and secret lover; while Janeane Garofalo chairs the board. They are an intelligent ensemble who make believable doctor types.

This movie was okay. The story is intriguing, doctors making the life or death decision as to who gets a heart transplant. The acting was good. Kelsey Grammer and Julia Stiles did a nice job. The film lost its way a little in the execution. Threads were introduced, but not resolved. But all in all it was a decent movie with good acting.

There probably are not a lot of folks that will tune in to a movie about organ transplants so, a block buster it is not. None the less, this is a very real problem in healthcare. Far more need out there than availability. I found the film believable in the delivery. Good acting from the entire cast. Go sign up to be a organ donor and do something truly benefiting others in need and just maybe, keep big money out of the picture and save a pig.
