See more Jonathan H @RT66479691 2 days ago Started off as an interesting premise and evolved into some kind of strange critique / absurd origin-explanation of *certain* religions using logical fallacies, speculations, pop psychology and half-truths. I imagine that some people might see this film and feel that it was intellectually groundbreaking, perhaps. I'm not in that group. Part of it amounted to a decent exercise in skepticism and questioning everything; I have no problem with that. But the entire drama played out as a veiled, pseudo-scientific critique of religion, in my opinion. Now, I could be wrong and maybe that wasn't the intent. Perhaps I just missed the point, amongst the sciolist, sophomoric attempt to have a deep conversation without any depth of understanding all the material in question. The premise is fascinating: a university professor tells his colleagues he may have lived for thousands of years, and the whole film becomes a long conversation about history, science, religion and the need to believe or disprove the impossible. The script is the clear strength, and the changing reactions of the group—curiosity, irritation, fascination, fear, rejection—are well handled. It also has the charm of a filmed chamber play, relying almost entirely on dialogue and actors rather than effects. But that theatrical nature is also its limit. At times it is too talkative and too expository, with characters feeling more like positions in a debate than fully alive people. Intellectually it is absorbing; emotionally it is more limited. Original, entertaining and memorable, yes. A masterpiece, not for me. See more Sam S @RT58073707 Jul 9, 2026 First of all, if I could I would rate this below a zero. This movie genuinely had no point and was the same thing over and over again. Every single line from John OLDMAN (the stupidest name ever) was a one liner where he was either looking at the ground while saying or staring out into the distance staring. I get it was a small studio and it wasn’t a traditional movie but you can’t have a whole 1.5 hour movie of people talking with one liners in a single room. The idea of a guy being 14,000 years old is really an interesting plot idea but this movie executed it horribly. It was not a fun watch, I was urging to punch the tv off the wall after John Oldman killed his son. Why did this happen at the end of the movie when it maybe could’ve kept me engaged if it was in the middle of it?? The only reason I finished this movie is because I thought there just HAD to be a point and climax of it. But there wasn’t. This movie sucked mega balls, PS: why was there a guy dating his student??
