leonard S @RT00394381 3d what a great opening, wonderful ending and outstanding story in the middle. what more could you ask for. if you like classical music, you got that too. only two minor complaint. subtitle sometime when by too fast and unable to read it all and sometime it was white on white and unable to read it. but it is well worth your money and time. A simple story with a very emotional finish See more Fay R @Fairy531 Jan 24 What a wonderful movie, it moves along with beautiful melodies, music, humour and two brothers finding out, in mid life, that the other exists. The brothers are very different, especially in their opportunities- due to their very different upbringing, but a love for music, strongly connects them in an intrinsic way. It was a delight to enjoy a film like this, in a world that has so much drama, violence and discord. The two main characters were emotionally complex and the supporting roles well played as well. For a moving, gentle escape which will stay with you, do not miss this film. See more Howie B @Howie10 Jan 4 Perhaps a recognisable storyline of sorts. Adopted-out siblings separated. One knows this, the other doesn’t. Circumstances conspire to bring them together as adults in their late 30’s. Apart from this, the specific story here holds up very well. Strong characters with a welcomed musical backdrop. Couldn’t help also thinking it could easily have been set in northern England or even the Midwest USA. Perhaps this worked in the film’s favour drawing natural empathy from the non-French audience. Actors gave strong performances and the pace was ‘pitch perfect’ (apologies for the pun) throughout. As always I was front row so the subtitles were at eye level and not obscured by heads of others. Perfect place for a sub-titled film. You miss none of the plot, which I note one other audience reviewer certainly did! (It only took me 40 years to figure out where the best seats in the house are for a foreign language film.) See more Daniel H @nihilhonestum Jan 2 With cliched setups like thus, you really Need fantastic characters and dialogue which this doesn’t have. The pacing almost made it bearable. What confused me the most were the clunky narrative devices. Why the second band in a factory? A film that retreads it’s own narrative device it got away with once trying it again just irked me. The factory music scene was a very odd add on indeed and did very little to serve the story. A film that goes for the very obvious and doesn’t deserve its crescendo ending.
