The cast is incredible. Absolutely must see! See more Robert 4h I have read the Odyssey twice when I was young at Jesuit school. There are too many mistakes in that movie. Let me start with the good parts: I was surprised by the choice of Matt Damon for Ulysse who was tall and VERY muscular. However, Mike Damon acting was outstanding. The only other actress who was outstanding was Charlize Theron who played Calypso, she is beautiful and Calypso was irresistible. Her acting was impeccable. The Cyclop Polyphemus played by Bill Ervin was also a very poor choice. Polyphemus was a giant VERY MUSCULAR and very strong. The cyclop in the movie look like a giant spaghetti. That was probably the poorest choice. My biggest disappointment was Ann Hathaway whom I love and is beautiful and classy like Penelope was. However, this is the first time Ann is not as beautiful as she normally is. Her skin does not look very good and is blotchy and her acting is very poor. Circ played by Samanta Morton is also a poor choice for Circ who was so gorgeous that Ulysse could barely resist her attraction and made love to her. Samantha didn't look sexy at all. The biggest problem with the movie is that it was so loud that my wife and I had to cover our ears for the majority of the movie, That noise was unacceptable. I also think that all the battle were too long and not very exciting. It cost 50 f0r my wife and me as senior, and I certainly don't think that it was worth it. Helen also was described as the fairest of all and gorgeous, " the face that sailed a thousand ships." Of course, Helen was not a real person, it is all mythology, but I think that when you are going to make a movie like the Iliad or the Odyssey you must make the characters according to HOMER'S descriptions. I have several illustrated copies of the Iliad and the Odyssey and Helen is fair , with blonde or golden hair. You can google paintings of Helen of Troy and she is always shown as a very fair lady with beautiful blond or golden hair. See more Read all reviews
