Critics Consensus

Chris Pratt ably anchors this sci-fi adventure, even if The Tomorrow War may not linger in the memory much longer than today.

Audience Says

It isn't the most surprising time-travel movie, but a satisfying story and plenty of entertaining action make The Tomorrow War well worth a watch.

A pretty average action film that’s buoyed by solid directing, an incredibly game cast, some cool sci-fi concepts, and a lot of excellent and well-paced action sequences. Go to Full Review

E S @JoeyTribbiani 1d Chris Pratt hasn’t quite proven he has the dramatic range to fully carry the leading man role, though his boyish charm remains effective. What might have worked as an allegory for the Vietnam War—as it was in the source material — ends up feeling tonally uneven, ultimately morphing into a spy caper by the 3rd Act. The film clearly draws inspiration from better films like Edge of Tomorrow and The Thing, but those influences feel more like faint echoes. Still, the action set pieces are visceral, energetic, and as entertaining as any of the films it aspires to be. J.K. Simmons' performance gives this film the jolt that it desperately needs, while Sam Richardson, Betty Gilpin and Yvonne Strahovski bolsters this cast nicely. This is not to say The Tomorrow War is a bad film -- it works when it works, it just lacks a thematic through line. See more Bumbling K @Kiwi_reviewer 5d Strong story line.
