Gunman Martin Brady (Robert Mitchum) is an American exiled in Mexico for the revenge killing of his father's assassin. Brady, a henchman of the ruthless Castro crime family, travels across the border to Texas to negotiate the sale of black market rifles. When a broken leg delays Brady's return to Mexico, U.S. Army Maj. Colton (Gary Merrill) and Texas Ranger Capt. Rucker (Albert Dekker) attempt to enlist Brady as a sharpshooter in their war against the Apaches.

See more 09/29/2013 131106: This film meandered a bit. Seemed a bit pointless but enjoyable actors (Mitchum), good sets and costumes. I would've thought this was a 70s movie, at least late 60s. I imagine it was seen as damned good in 1959. Not certain where the title comes from unless it's simply a reference to Mexico and the beautiful scenery represented in the film.
