Matt M @Onryo May 19 There’s something genuinely fun and nostalgic about the original Tiger Claws that still works today if you enjoy old school martial arts movies. The film has that gritty early 90s action feel with practical fight scenes and straightforward storytelling that keeps things moving. Stephen Maunder did a solid job creating a movie that knew exactly what it wanted to be. The film focuses on action, atmosphere, and entertainment without trying too hard to be overly serious. Cynthia Rothrock was one of the highlights and brought a strong presence to the movie. While some performances are rough around the edges, that honestly adds to the charm of these kinds of films. If you enjoy vintage martial arts and direct to video action movies, Tiger Claws is definitely worth watching and deserves more appreciation from fans of the genre. See more 12/30/2014 After seeing "China O'Brien", I'll give any Cynthia Rothrock movie a look. Here she is a detective on the trail of a serial killer who is killing the top martial arts stars in New York through the tiger claw form of martial arts. Not a bad film but I have a couple of complaints. I was not quite clear on the killer's motives here (never good) and Rothrock spent too much of the film in a parked car doing surveillence while her parter took the lead. Film did well enough to produce two sequels, which I would like to see.
