Grief over the loss of a loved one makes visceral the potential loss of glaciers thus making a work of advocacy less a preach to the choir product and more of a human interest, preserving a way of life story that may even appeal to conservatives

Really beautiful, powerful film. An artfully crafted and thought-provoking meditation on loss but also life and joy not only of nature but also our human families. Very smartly done to weave those two themes together and made me feel so alive and in love with our changing world.

Part footage of Icelandic glaciers, part the filmmaker’s home movies, I kid you not. Pretty dull stuff; I left after about an hour – though it seemed longer! The film wants you to feel sorry the glaciers are melting, yet it’s obvious that means plants and animals can come back.

Probably the most depressing movie I’ve ever seen. Juxtaposing the narrator’s dying family to the dying glaciers and global warming was beyond sobering…plus it did go on a bit too long. Iceland is magnificent, almost feral in its beauty…

It’s part elegy to director’s lost relatives & another one for death of glaciers in his home country. They are purposely shown together to show that humans & nature are interconnected & need each other. I’m not sure if this warrants a 90 min doc since we can see how beautiful Iceland is at their tourism website. It definitely did not sustain my attention & I was pretty bored for most part since I do not really care for his family history. Just like its title, Time & Water, doc is pretty boring.
