Movie Info

Since she was a little girl, it's been drilled into Amy's (Schumer) head by her rascal of a dad (Colin Quinn) that monogamy isn't realistic. Now a magazine writer, Amy lives by that credo-enjoying what she feels is an uninhibited life free from stifling, boring romantic commitment-but in actuality, she's kind of in a rut. When she finds herself starting to fall for the subject of the new article she's writing, a charming and successful sports doctor named Aaron Conners (Bill Hader), Amy starts to wonder if other grown-ups, including this guy who really seems to like her, might be on to something.

  • Schumer's performance is a tour de force of razor-sharp comedic timing.

  • Schumer has produced the most retrograde romcom for years, funny though it often is.

  • Trainwreck is both the best romantic comedy of the year as well as its most crushing disappointment.

  • At best, it's a two-hour assemblage of hit'n'miss sketches revolving around the vicissitudes of the Manhattan dating scene.

  • Trainwreck hasn't got the acid of Apatow's more incorrect comedies: some laughs, though.

    Aug 13, 2015 | Rating: 3/5 | Full Review…
  • The title of the movie suggests its heroine is in need of repair, but the early sequences of her tottering home in high heels and sneaking outside during a date to get high defy condemnation.

Schumer's humor may not be for everyone, but her timing and delivery are great and it's refreshing to see such naughty jokes that are told from a female perspective. There are fun cameos and plenty of really good laughs. The only complaint would have to be the grieving passages significantly slowing down the film, while the sport sequences do not feel all that necessary. A slimmer, shorter film might have had all the recipes for a comedy highlight of recent years. As it is, it's still one of the better funny movies of the 2010s.

Ah-ha! I knew I'd be able to find a 2015 Rom-Com I didn't secretly adore! Trainwreck is that Rom-Com. Watch, as Amy Schumer's character uses awkward run-on repetitive humour between endless shoehorned celebrity cameos while throwing away all of her compelling traits in the pursuit of an archetypal happily-ever-after the trailers pretended she was completely uninterested in.

Actually a very well written movie, hats off to Amy Schumer for that. It is funny, heartwarming, and raunchy all at once but it works. In the words of TLC this is a crazy, sexy, cool movie, most who watch it will be pleased.
