‘Undercard’ is a relationship drama disguised as a boxing film, but it doesn’t succeed in either realm. Go to Full Review

It’s the kind of movie my 2.5-star rating was invented for; that is, a movie that’s interesting enough to put me on the ropes for several rounds before dropping its hands and getting knocked out. Go to Full Review

The irreconcilable flaw of Undercard is how its dramatic undercarriage consists almost exclusively of sports drama cliches which unfortunately cannot be ignored thanks to one-dimensional characterizations... Go to Full Review

D. Stew 15h So let's get this straight right off the bat. This is definitely a B movie with regards to it's production and actor class. That said, the story is age old and it pulls emotional strings. Definitely worth watching. See more CMG M @CMGMD 1d WOW! Just WOW. Honestly, this is one of the most beautifully shot and exquisitely acted films I've seen in a long time. Wanda Sykes, and the actor who plays her son, Keith, are a revelation! This is a gorgeous story filled with heart. In an era of Hollywood where heart-speak films are few and far between, UNDERCARD took me on a journey that I did not expect. I laughed and cried and rooted like crazy!!! This is a MUST SEE. Real talk. If you see anything this weekend, while the film is still in the theaters, go see this film. It’s so good!!! See more Brian Peoples 1d Wanda Sykes killed it!!! Great cast and great script. See more ScreenGrade 1d Now this right here was one hell of a movie! See more joel G @davidbondo 18h There is a lot to try and like in this movie, but there is alot to not like as well. For one. although the fight scenes appear to be realistic, they are shot in waay too inadequate lighting.. Feels like they are boxing in the middle of the ring in the middle of the night. You get the feel throughout that this is low budget.. Was this made on wanda sikes dime?.. without a major studio backing?.. appears so-...Wanda sikes acting here, is too much over the top at times, like she tries too hard to play a serious role... We have all seen her in her comedy sitcoms where she throws out one line or 2 liners like a pro. . But , Here she plays a serious mother with zero comedic lines and it comes accross as just too much because she tries too hard. Did like the overall storyline and plot, however contrived and "done before"..As long as you dont expect much with this movie you'll be fine. Well, not fine but wondering why you didnt go see a better film like elvis presely,,D+++ - grade. See more Lisa B. @sandy2 22h This was outstanding movie See more Read all reviews
