It is a possession movie with some of the classic possession tropes we've all seen but with a wonderful spin, you actually care very deeply about the protagonist. I have to admit that if you're a native spanish speaker the movie elevates to a different level (perhaps why people are struggling to connect) but underneath a classic possession film, there are incredibly deep themes here. Child neglect, being raised in a single parent household, the struggles of growing up, maturation, having too much responsibility as a teenager, and it all peaks to an excruciating final which I can only compare it to the Eclipse in Berserk. I went to see it because I saw a video that said only 15% of people finished it, but I found it very mild for that percentage. I can't recommend it. Still a solid movie which will satisfy the one-off scary movie craving. Good casting and good acting, but to the desensitized fan, this won't scare you.
