Carnival Row's freshman season is a solid performance from the entire cast. There is plenty of plot twists, back stabbing and fantasy effects to keep the viewer glued to the screen.
At a current critical score of %56 and an audience score of %87, CARNIVAL ROW highlights why its what the audience thinks that truly matters and not what the professional "Critics" think. If you like dark fantasy then definitely give CARNIVAL ROW a try. With the strong audience rating Amazon has green lit season 2.
Carnival Row: "what if Mexicans were mythical creatures!"
Amazon: "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!"
No but seriously, it's very well done and worth a watch if you like adult-geared fantasy stories.
Took a few episodes , but now am hooked .
Ignore the critics, trust the fans. This series is great. What a job of world building. The interweaving of familiar things from religion, history, and politics with fantasy is a joy to see.
So bloated and hard to follow. It was so easy to let anything distract you from watching this mess.
Finally a proper fae programme. Some political references.
Visually appealing but not captivated by plot.
The "Woke trash" comments have some merit to it as some social justice tropes seem to be artificially inserted to make this as woke as possible but fails to deliver an organic feel of a few occasions. Characters are mostly shallow, it took over 4 episodes for me to start caring about them at all. Their stories feel rushed and superficial. This was painful to get into at first. I found that Agreus was by far the most interesting character and so far he has absolutely nothing to do with the main arch.
After the chore of actually getting into was completed the ending leaves me to want to watch the next season. Feels like a lot of potential was wasted.
The acting is very good, there are boobs and swear words, the actors and actresses are very attractive, the setting and visual effects are amazing.
Great show with non-trivial plot and excellent worldbuilding.
