Tyrant walks a line between snark and research. You could say it's timely, were it not for its stubborn refusal to address the here and now. Go to Full Review

Malou M @SamUK Jan 29 The 'How to become a' series is so amazing. I'd recommend everyone to watch these, they are so interesting and capturing. They're not too long, they're not dragged out, you're fed with constant information but not in a tiring way at all. Recommend recommend, definitely!! See more Amir S 11/17/2024 A witty and interesting documentary series, interesting and fun to learn history with in a nutshell. See more Emanuele R 11/21/2023 Afterall it's a entertaining, but I think it's very focused only on "america's enemies", while simply overlooks regimes like Pinochet's. Moreover I would have preferred if they used this series as an occasion to look into how non-authoritarian countries used these techniques to impose their influence to other countries like Gladio operations or Ken Saro-Wiwa's experience In the end I think they should have payed more attention to Mussolini. It might also been interesting to dig into the responsibilities of the colonialist nations in the shaping of the regimes in their former colonies like Uganda or Libya. Another interesting point of view might be the aftermath of a dictatorship like the fact that many fascist military members kept their role in the army or even made a carrer after the proclamation of the Italian Republic. An example of this is Marcello Guida. Oh and it was the Red Army that entered Berlin, not the Allies in general. See more Jairojoel v 07/17/2023 You know what I mean, it's great to see I what it's like to be a dictator or authoritarian what is very interesting should make a season 2. Because of the current situation I saw the series 100 times for a person like me who is interested in politics it's a learning experience for me. See more Cat J @LabradorLady 04/25/2023 Useful resource with many titbits to share with secondary students on what to watch out for to protect a democracy, what civil liberties are vital to protect, the role of judiciary as a check on legislative powers, the role of propaganda, how morally wrong it is to vilify the other. It was easily digested - in short episodes. The narration of Dinklage was a great asset - what a gorgeous voice! I really hope Netflix create Season 2 to cover some other dictators and to explore the role of Western influences. See more Patrick F 02/03/2023 This was an interesting and enjoyable documentary series. Peter Dinklage was a great, and often funny, narrator. Each episode was a fast paced bite sized piece of history. While the series doesn't offer anything new, it should be a fun watch for the more casual fans of history. See more Read all reviews
