It's one of the great accomplishments of the genre, a success that has never been replicated and likely never will be.

Smart writing saved the series... and the characters in the series are well developed while remaining true to the core fundamentals that made them interesting and memorable in the comics.

Justice League/Unlimited showcased Timm's talents on the grandest scale. The show used (and nailed) almost every DC hero in history, telling great stories in a range of tones.

It's worth a watch if only to see how Batman works alongside his allies-that is to say, not always that well-and for a familiarity with a series the future Justice League movies might draw their inspiration from.

The indirect sexual stuff and double entendres fly left and right... It's just really annoying that now I even have to pre-screen a TV show that features superheroes like Superman, Batman and The Flash before I watch it with my daughter.

This is just blockbuster action, sending off the show with a bang.

This is a thrilling finale with some wonderful action set pieces... The series ends on a fitting note.

More than just another throwaway toon. It could be glorious; it was often grim. Above all, it had a broad reach without being all over the place.

By its final season, we were dealing with ongoing arcs and nuances not traditionally associated with superhero cartoons. It's the closest we've come to an animated superhero series trying for the "cable drama" formula.

Maybe not quite as good as the previous season, but still worth checking out.
