Killing Eve: Season 2 (2019)

Season 2
Killing Eve

Critics Consensus

With the titillating cat-and-mouse game still rooted at its core, Killing Eve returns for an enthralling second season of considerably higher stakes, hilariously dark humor and a captivating dynamic between characters, solidifying its position as one of the best spy thrillers out.

Critic Reviews for Killing Eve Season 2

Jodie Comer has perfected the psychopath. She's mesmerising as the ruthless assassin Villanelle in this thriller.

Yet as the season inevitably outgrows the cat and mouse premise that sustained series one and Eve and Villanelle became more intimately acquainted, a slight flakiness start to intrude.

Last series we saw a slightly softer side to Villanelle in her interactions with the young girl she abducted. Here [Jodie] Comer gives us an anti-heroine who's battered, scared, in pain, exhausted and outmanoeuvred. She's excellent.

If Eve is our frayed tether to reality, Villanelle embodies the entitled, otherworldly glamour of both being in her line of work and taking pride in it.

New spin for a new season, but the black heart of "Killing Eve" remains intact.

It still feels so fresh. Comer is as marvellous as ever, particularly when Villanelle is posturing (she acts acting so brilliantly); her petulant charm never fails.

Series two is, sadly, not a match for the first. It's not by any stretch bad TV. It's still very entertaining, just not as daring and surprising as the first.

Watching Season 2 is like a second helping of an uncommonly delicious and hard-to-find dessert - not strictly necessary, but the pleasure of gobbling it up negates the minor downsides of excess calories and diminishing returns.

Killing Eve remains far and away one of the smartest, funniest, British dramas on television.

Jul 29, 2019 | Rating: 4/5 | Full Review…

The strongest aspect of this second season is its unwillingness to reiterate or re-establish motive, instead twisting and growing to a dizzying finale.

Killing Eve tramples the tropes and stereotypes of spy stories and femininity with bankable style and flair.

Audience Reviews for Killing Eve: Season 2

Fantastic, mind boggling, and hilarious all wrapped up in one.

This show is one of the best casting triumphs and stories on TV. Actresses Sandra Oh and Jody Comer have both received emmys for best actress in a dramatic series for this series. The creation of Killing Eve is very well done and is a very compelling story.

It gets worse than season 1, more unreasonable and also much less humorous could hardly watch through all episodes skipping much then stopping at 6th. I don't understand Sandra hopping around like school kid with dishevelled hair for being an intelligence agent or loved better term endured by a handsome husband or to cast such a spell on the charismatic psychopath killer. Then very old Fiona Shaw cast as vastly experienced intelligence head who saved the world many times feels completely stupid at times, also there are repulsive references of her great sexual exploits even once shown waking up with big black guy yikes !! Though loved Konstantin played by Kim bodnia whose scenes with the killer are sort of reprieve in this whole dull season. There is toxic feminist undertone throughout, no wonder ladies especially old loving it ...

The story loses the plot as the rivalry - which dominated the season one - is replaced by an uncomfortable companionship. The leads remain absolutely captivating in their unique ways but the story fails them repeatedly. Season 3 could be another cat and mouse, which has far more potential

Just finished season 2. One of the best psychological thrillers of all time. Jodie is fantastic and the ambiguity of Eve and Villanelle's grotesque attraction to each other keeps us asking for more. Already dying for Season 3!

    I think it is terrible
  • Aug 25, 2019
Its good but not as good as the last. some slow spots, the twinges are gone from this for the most part
  • Aug 22, 2019
Konstantin is fun. Jodie is superb. Sandra Oh is annoying now.

I kept watching because I paid for it. But I can't stand plot twists that are purely to move a strange, not satisfying story forward. I was rolling my eyes at every turn. For a fleeting moment: Season 2 Ep 7 I had a light feeling in my heart: oh! This has all been a ruse on Eve- they are all in on it- and she will end up in a mental institution completely alone. THAT would have been so satisfying. Then, no of course we had to follow this fake lesbian relationship (it seemed so written by a man, I don't care what female names were attached to it, someone was trying to please a man there) that I just didn't end up caring about. Every character lacked depth. They went no where, and didn't change. Caricatures of humans. The reason I didn't give it one star: the acting is wonderful, you really wish they just had more to do and had more to go on.

Pales in comparison to Season One. Lacks all the wit and charm that PW-B brought. Disappointing.
