Las Vegas: Season 1 (2003 - 2004)

SEASON:

Season 1
Las Vegas

Critics Consensus

Las Vegas has visual panache and star power to spare, but the series feels narratively clumsy with an ill-defined ensemble and a romantic subplot that is both icky and tiresome.

Critic Reviews for Las Vegas Season 1

All Critics (15) | Top Critics (11)

Las Vegas has so many assets, including James Caan as its biggest-name star, that the show should be a good bet. But like casino chips sprinkled over a roulette table, the assets of this NBC show aren't being used very wisely.

Oct 22, 2018 | Rating: 2/4 | Full Review…

Las Vegas, like the city itself, has guilty pleasure written all over it.

Relies on glib remarks, steady innuendo, fancy gadgets and tense card games. When the video-pretty show shifts to drama, the results are mawkish.

Oct 22, 2018 | Full Review…

Can this show be saved? Yes, if they kill the smarmy daddy-daughter plot. It's deplorable, disgusting and totally off limits for a legitimate network.

Oct 22, 2018 | Rating: 2/4 | Full Review…

Tries to grab us, jolt us or titillate us with these literal flights of fancy -- flights that almost break the sound barrier as well as the fancy. Las Vegas needs all the gimmickry it can get because the basic premise of the show is shaky.

Oct 22, 2018 | Full Review…

Given how little of compelling interest happens here, one's take on the series will likely depend largely on whether one finds Las Vegas a priori a place of glamour or just a sad machine for parting suckers from their money.

Oct 22, 2018 | Full Review…

If only the series works its way toward more effective show than tell, Las Vegas might find itself with a winning hand.

The doe-eyed Duhamel and craggy Caan quickly developed an easy, light-comic rapport that's been fun to take in.

Oct 22, 2018 | Rating: B+ | Full Review…

Las Vegas is all glitz, and the pilot gives no sense of what the show will be on a regular basis.

Oct 22, 2018 | Full Review…

Viewers get the fabulous Caan in the lead role, plenty of good-natured humor, and a show that's stimulating without being an assault to the senses.

Oct 22, 2018 | Rating: 3/5 | Full Review…

It's a pity the premise for this show didn't fall into the hands of more capable adults.

Oct 22, 2018 | Full Review…

The Danny-Delinda pairing is a loser that Las Vegas should drop like a bad poker hand.
