What to Know

Critics Consensus

This animated anthology has enough creative Death to satisfy cyberpunk aficionados who Love their Robots to have some Heavy Metal influence, but the series' lofty ambitions are often undercut by a preoccupation with gore and titillation.

I did enjoy the majority of this, as it is high-quality animation that reflects a diverse groups of artists' visions and presents new stories that we haven't seen. Go to Full Review

The general lack of sophistication cues up all manner of cute, situationally appropriate wordplay: they've got problems with faulty wiring, bugs to work out, glitches in the code. Go to Full Review

Taken as a whole, it is a sci-fi pot pourri that benefits from a dip-and-skip approach. Go to Full Review

Love, Death + Robots doesn't suffer from a poverty of visual imagination; it's visually memorable, even occasionally iconic. It simply lacks morality, in every way. Go to Full Review

Admittedly, despite its box-fresh feel, we have seen a lot of the themes and big reveals before in various formats. Yet [David] Fincher and [Tim] Miller have excelled in making the series feel shiny and new. Go to Full Review

Grace B Sep 1 Absolutely incredible format for a show. Every episode is completely different with an individual animation style. It showcases the breadth of human creativity when it comes to animation through bite-sized episodes. Phenomenal. See more Shane S Aug 17 My personally favorite collection from the show. See more Hughe J @Hughe Jul 20 Volume 1 was released on Netflix in 2019 and consisted of 18 episodes all varying in length and quality. Some of the episodes were more comical like Three Robots and some were just dark like Beyond the Aquila Rift. Overall though most of the episodes were entertaining and several of them like Lucky 13 or The Secret War were just excellent. The animation styles vary from very cartoony to heavily computer generated to anime but all were unique and the voice overs were all equally good. The show has spawned three seasons thus far but the first season for me is still the best and is a must see for anyone that enjoys serious animation. See more Nathaniel W Jul 18 A tour-de-force in weird, scary, sexy, gross, what-if storytelling from yesteryear. Amazing visuals throughout. Every story was compelling from the uncomfortable cliffhangers, to the scary world-building, to the makes-you-think. See more Oliver D May 25 I love anthology series. This one is made masterfully with such care taken to craft diverse worlds from story story. very fun! See more Oleksii S @lovecircle13 May 24 The Witness. Zima Blue. Bravo. See more Read all reviews
