Raising Dion is a fun little treasure of a film series featuring a young superhero in training who discovers his powers the same way he is discovering his own way in the world.

There is a lot of seriousness but fun, lightheartedness mixed throughout where the kids shine. The cute moments try to make up for where the special effects and graphics often fail.

In trying to do many things at once, "Raising Dion" can feel wayward and messy... And yet what's ungainly about the series is also what makes it interesting and distinguishes it from the great mass of high-gloss superhero adventures.

Raising Dion is beautiful, magical, fun and exciting stuff.

The fact that the hero in question is a seven-year-old boy... adds originality to the story. [Full Review in Spanish]

Raising Dion enlivens the superhero genre by offering a fresh tone and concept, and it also has some subtle messages that resonate with personal growth and sociopolitical challenges still being faced today.

Haney's Ezperanza is one of the best parts of the entire show. She's quick-witted, loving, and wise beyond her years; Haney's dialogue is some of the strongest in Raising Dion.

The small things in Raising Dion that don't stand up as well - CGI quibbles, uneven pacing, generic cinematography - are easily forgiven in light of the fact that the show is one of the few entries in pop culture that asks, how do we raise better men?

There's nothing wrong with wheeling out a tried-and-tested formula when it has a life of its own, and Raising Dion succeeds in maintaining its own personality.

Even Michael B. Jordan's role is so insignificant that it feels like a glorified cameo and a way for Netflix to try and salvage some viewers for this show. I would be shocked if Netflix renewed it for a second season.

Raising Dion is an all-ages appropriate family series, with storylines built to appeal to parents as well as their kids.

All of the black excellence in 'Raising Dion' exists alongside the bigotry as it does in real life, reminding us that we cannot escape the hate. However, we can still attain Black excellence in the face of it and in spite of it.

This familiar-feeling tale not only comes from a fresh perspective, the series dodges genre tropes and expectations to deliver a fun supernatural story with edge and purpose.

Bound to resonate with audiences. That is, if they can get over the bad CGI, poor pacing, and shaky child acting.

Even with all the overt manipulations, this Netflix drama feels good-intentioned.

Raising Dion makes for an exciting children's show about tapping into your power in order to make the world a better place. With more focus and a little more nerve, the show could make incredible leaps and bounds.

Raising Dion works mainly because of the performances and chemistry between Young and Wainright, with a little help from Ritter.

There might not be much, narratively, that is new to adult viewers - but is there ever? Still, it is a fresh twist.

In essence, the series feels like two different shows that are being forced to go hand in hand, and it all feels a little jarring.
