This show is as good as TV melodrama gets, achieves maximum bang for it buck in delivering that melodrama without betraying the characters, and also it looks great. Riverdale is no joke.

Season 2 maintains much of that fun. While the characters are still engaging, the central mystery fails to capture the lightning in a bottle intrigue that kicked off season 1.

Riverdale embraces madness, salting and debauchery without inhibiting, without the soap opera being half-full. [Full Review in Spanish]

Really anything that gives Alice more of a prominent, major role in a storyline is fine by me.

Riverdale uses popular culture to explicate, and magnify, its themes and preoccupations, only through an expressly feminine perspective.

But I fear its concern with crime and punishment, with the guilt that always seems to accompany sin, has made it so grave, in form as in function, that saving it from itself demands a super-heroic effort of its own.

Riverdale is a pitch-perfect teen drama.

The narrative is still unbalanced, with hormones once again taking over as melodrama masquerades as intrigue. It was everything we've come to expect from Riverdale.

In its second season, Riverdale again establishes a strong central mystery, but the man in the black hood is quite different and already much more violent.

[K.J.] Apa is at his best here - expressive and a little bit frantic in a way that makes him more endearing than he ever had been in season 1.

[Betty and Veronica's competitiveness] fits neatly into the canon: You're either the Madonna or the whore. Maleficent or Princess Aurora. Sandy or Rizzo. We've got two choices, ladies, and both are reductive.

The plot, much like cold maple syrup, thickens!

Audience Reviews for Riverdale: Season 2

Yikes.....what happened? Season two took everything bad about the first entry and multiplied it by a million. Season two came in with an interesting plot but was dragged down by horrid dialogue and missed writing opportunities. While Betty (Lilli) did shine in this season and had a decent character arch she was still dragged down by her cast mates. Speaking of drags, Jughead really made every scene unbearable. Cole sprouse fails time elevate the horrid material he is given , due to this his character is presented as an annoying whiny badass. Anyway this season sucked ass.

It gets more fun but the soul of the show gets weaker. This season is so dark and sometimes overwrought. I miss the 2017 Riverdale.
  • Sep 10, 2019
I was NOT a fan of this season. It felt like it was just dragging us along for the ride of something that was HARDLY thought out. Only stayed for the characters.

this season wasn't as good at season 1 but wasn't as bad as season 3. it was alright and had some good stories in it

    Better then the previous one!!!

The second season of Riverdale is low-key meh than the first season. First of all, the musical episode is messed out. Secondly, Hiram Lodge is back from the prison Last at least, The Black Hood is everywhere The only thing I love about season two was Cheryl and Toni (Choni). I ship them so bad.
  • Jun 07, 2019
Not as good as the first season but its decent.
  • May 24, 2019
The second season is just as good as the first.
  • Mar 27, 2019
Script is bad and acting is terrible.

the show has declined, in quality quite quickly. The new murderer is a good story unfortunately it gets muddled up.
