What to Know

Critics Consensus

Not even the delightful Rob Delaney and some spectacular - if somewhat scary - prosthetics can save Sexy Beasts' strangely boring idea of a date.

After a nugatory attempt, the mind quails and halts, unwilling to go further. Thus, do I fight to explain the advent of this monstrosity into our lives. Go to Full Review

Beasts is just dull-the only real sin for a summer reality-TV confection. Go to Full Review

The whole endeavour is oddly humourless, despite the rich comic potential and Delaney's best efforts to bring a bit of Iain Stirling spark to the narration. This is TV as an exercise in algorithm-baiting -- an affair you'll try to forget. Go to Full Review

Sexy Beasts could have had it all. A great name. A great concept. But nope. It was squandered on terrible editing, very poor casting, and a complete mockery of its own conceit. It’s not even fun to hate-watch. Just don’t bother. Go to Full Review

This is a show solely for people who derive joy from watching strangers undergo extremely uncomfortable experiences. But for everyone and anyone else, it should be a hard pass. Go to Full Review

Do I really need to tell you that every contestant is conventionally beautiful in real life, and that most of them spend their time smouldering (in slow motion) for the cameras? Go to Full Review

Ed T @ethan925 10/20/2024 I think what makes us frustrating is that despite wearing a mask and not Thinking about physical appearances, the contestants spent a lot of time thinking about physical appearances without the mask. Granted, I understand different people have different romantic preferences I just found it annoying and contrary to the point of the show. Ask feel he was way too condensed and they moved way too fast so that I can't really feel their connection, I just get a summary of how they felt (show not tell). It also doesn't help that from the episodes I watched, I don't feel like any of the matches are good. Episode one all the men were trying to "rizz" the woman (This attitude could be a whole rant from me in and of itself) And had glaring issues from being Wishy washy all loyalty to mansplaining. Then in episode three, the panda wanted to get married right away And asked the Buffalo if he had health insurance??! Then there's the issue of not having Queer contestants which is a missed opportunity. TLDR the costumes are the best part of this and the cast is what makes it fail. Narrator keeps it afloat. See more 07/30/2021 Now sure, the makeup and animal masks were cool, but Sexy Beasts fails to be an enjoyable dating show that is instead is a sexy disaster of a show on Netflix.
