Slightly above average DC animation, Had a pretty good story, It's not for kids with lots of blood, Swearing, The odd bit of nudity too, What will hurt the film most is the lack of knowledge from casual fans in who the people are in the film as they're less known, You would think they would use the team from the movie Suicide Squad as that would appeal to more fans, It also felt very uneven at times and some of the humour felt out of place but apart from that the story and action is just enough for this to pretty entertaining.
Didn't have much hope for this film as the story just felt silly and dull and most of the time it was, It felt like the director watched Mad Max on repeat before filming this, I like the other straight to dvd Death Race films but not so much this one, They added more nudity, Sex and Less Races, When the action does start it was pretty good with some brutal deaths and gory scenes, It wasn't greatly acted but they never have been, It didn't really fit into the series well and was more of a spin-off, If you enjoyed the others you might like it but it won't bring new fans to the table.
First things first is that the trailer blatantly lied to us making out all these big names had big parts in it but it turns out they were all extended cameos for some and the plot was a little different that I expected, It didn't have nearly as much comedy as it should of and felt more of a drama at times, It did have a few laughs and the story was ok and the two main cast really worked well together which helps the film allot, It can be dull at times and the only reason my rating is that high is due to the fact that I found the ending to have a great emotional twist that worked so much better than any of the comedy.
So much funnier that I was expecting, I really can't understand why I've read some awful reviews for this film, Yes it was predictable, A Die Hard Rip off and it was silly in places but it's fast paced with non stop laughs and is pretty bloody in places too, I prefer my comedies to cross them lines that offend people and this does that a few times, It's nothing we haven't seen before but it has some big laughs and that's all I care about with films like this.
I'm struggling to decide if liked this movie or not, It started out great with a good and different plot, Good acting and it got better and better with some beautifully disturbing effects and scenes that kind of made me feel a little uneasy (Especially the freaky bear scene), Then the last 20 minutes just got confusing and the story had allot of hidden meanings that didn't work well, I don't know how loyal it is to the book but I'm so glad I didn't read it, It's not a bad film it just tries too hard to be different and have one of those wierd endings but for me it came across lazy and it's really put me off watching it again as it ruined what was a great unique first half.
