I enjoyed the setting and the fusion of Asian-American cultures. But honestly, I didn't really see the on-screen chemistry that people have been raving about. I thought their attraction was moderately believable at best, and while their characters were real, they weren't very inspiring. Perhaps I just look for something else in a romantic comedy.
Spectacular Now proves that a coming of age film's lead does not need to be a typecast to win the sympathy of the audience.
Very well done, but just wasn't the same without Heisenberg's genius driving the plot. Still, a compelling addition that will be enjoyed by fans of the show.
By the end, Joaquin has slowly, but convincingly unraveled into the joker we all know.
I wouldn't be surprised if Bumble Bee is one of the best of the franchise, but as someone who isn't a Transformers superfan, I remain quite unmoved. Steinfeld is great, Bumble Bee is surprisingly human and likable, Cena's character is ridiculous.
