Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 ups the humor, the characters, the emotional heft, and the action to bring the most original, visually dazzling blockbuster since it's predecessor. An outstanding sequel that is everything I could have asked for.
Despite a boring villain, cliche plot, and a last minute twist that has extremely unfortunate implications, Ghost in the Shell is still a gorgeous looking and well acted adaptation that respects it's source material, even if it's not as thematically interesting as before.
Brutal, harrowing, and nuanced, Logan is a triumph of the superhero genre, bringing Hugh Jackman's and Patrick Stewart's best performances of the characters along with thoughtful and engaging drama that lassos into a satisfying end one of the most beloved characters in recent memory. We'll miss ya, Wolvie.
Suffering from bizarre narrative choices and weak character development, X-Men: Apocalypse is an otherwise passable and occasionally great installment of the franchise, mainly due to the continued strong performances and glorious action set pieces.
