Well deserving of 5 stars. Possibly the best movie I have seen this year. The movie was timed at roughly 2 hours and 30 minutes but it did not feel like that at all. This movie flew by and I must say I need to see it again before it leaves theatres.
DC is moving in the right direction with this film. Shazam is a fun story with great characters. What made this movie all the better for me was recognizing a lot of the sets which wee filmed in my hometown.
If you're looking for a fun movie to watch in theatres, then Crawl should be the number one choice. Not once did I find myself wondering when it would end. Instead I enjoyed every minute of it. You never knew when someone was about to get CHOMPED. Would highly recommend this movie to anyone with a sense of humour and who is looking for a few scares.
Ari Aster- "I Really Don't Know What I've Done." Neither do I in terms of why I watched this. I was expecting a truly shocking and mentally unsettling experience while watching this film. This was not the case. The only moments which truly had me feeling uncomfortable were the first 15 minutes. Other than that the last 2 hours and 15 minutes just left me confused. Ultimately this was very disappointing.
Look, there's only Hellboy and that's Ron Perlman. Putting that aside this was an enjoyable film nonetheless. It was enjoyable for me because it drew so much material from Mike Mignola's comic series that it felt authentic to his story. But David Harbour is not Hellboy and never will be.
