Great storytelling through flashbacks! When this rising musical star in the 70's who almost did not survive until he finds hope within himself, thanks to his best best friend. Casting was great , wardrobe and props were simply excellent. But it was the music of his life that kept the movie hopping! Much lighter than "Bohemian Rhapsody"; This was more a rousing Broadway Musical!
Thin plot and lacking in character development; this does not, unfortunately, live up to 'Men in Black' franchise. Felt sorry for the two main actors, as they were the ones who were forced to try to make-up for poor production and direction.
This is the real deal as gentrification in the Bay Area has affected the lives of so many people albeit mainly Afro Americans. Each scene in this production are gems. Guess it was all summed up with the quote: "You don't get to hate it unless you love it". In my opinion the best movie of 2019. Brilliant acting, directing and production! I cried at the ending as it was so intuitive.
Special effects overwhelm the viewer without providing a good plot line. I had really looked forward to this new version but was really disappointed.
This 2hr and 19 minutes film was torture. It was pretentious and nearly unwatchable. In one of the first scenes Andrew Garfield was sprayed by a skunk and there were numerous references to "something smells" throughout the movie.I concluded it was a metaphor for the entire movie. It stank.
