I actually enjoyed this movie, set aside all the negatives it still reminded me of the Fifth Element in some ways. This movie is just pure entertainment with many contradictions and sorry to say, lazy writing. The CGI is not that bad and the story is kind of cool in some ways. It shows that whatever humans touch, they destroy out of greed, power and substantial gains which is unfortunately our human nature. Anyways, back to the entertainment values of this movie, in my books, it's in the same category of the Fifth Element, Starship Troopers and other movies of the same genre. It's not complicated, no drama or trills but rather filled with frills and colorful surroundings that just let's your childhood imagination run wild.
Bottom line is, of course it's not a movie that will be remembered for the actor's acting skills and/or for it's story lines and writing. But rather for it's simple entertainment value and it's kind of late 80's and 90's sci-fi movie genre. It's a simple uncomplicated movie, the kind of movie you watch when there's nothing better and you just want to be entertained with nothing too deep nor too cheesy to enjoy two hours of letting your imagination have fun and take over of everything going on in RL. It's definitely a descent movie for those reasons and worth watching for it's entertainment values.
This exactly what it is, a remake of an already great successful movie. The CGI was great, the story was true to the original and hearing James Earl Jones commanding essence/presence. A must see!!
It's a Spider-Man movie, the story is hard to believe but hey we just had the last MCU villain able to kill half of life in the entire universe. So nothing should surprise. All and all it does it's job, it entertains from start to finish. As for me, Spider-Man is/should be the face of the new MCU going forward, definitely more so than Captain Marvel. Spider-Man delivers where Captain Marvel failed and Tom Holland is way more likable than Brie Larson. I definitely recommend going out to see it.
I actually liked it, it was entertaining and in my view, much better than Captain Marvel by a mile. I think the reason it's doing so poorly at the box office is because Captain Marvel left us with such a bitter taste and Marvel Universe/MCU fans fell duped into watching Captain Marvel because it was suppose to be a must see that tied in with End Game. And this movie X-Men Dark Phoenix paid the price. Movie goers and Marvel fans alike were very weary in regards to this movie, thinking it was another Captain Marvel full woke and feminism push to pander to the SJW's.
It's not a spoiler to say that when Jennifer Lawrence says in the movie that their name should be changed to X-Women instead of X-Men, that turned a lot of fans away, thinking we would watch another movie with political agenda and feminism narratives/propaganda, that people just didn't want to take the chance to spend money on another Captain Marvel. I've said the following in many youtube videos and Twitter "I dare Disney/MCU to try and make another Captain Marvel stand alone movie and see how it does at the box office?". They'll get the exact same results that is happening with X-Men Phoenix. Which is too bad because Dark Phoenix isn't that bad of a superhero(e) movie. I really don't agree with all the critics saying this movie is the worse in the X-Men franchise and I'm pretty much a harsh critic when it comes down to my superhero(e) movies, especially since I've been collecting comic books since the mid 70's. I've been very critical of many MCU movies due to the MCU swaying away from original story lines, powers and abilities and a lot of lazy writing. The MCU fans only know what the MCU feeds them and don't know the comic book characters at all and take the MCU's words as if it came from the bible. The MCU is only 10 yrs young, go buy older comic books and educate yourselves in regards to each individual characters and then you will have a new perspective on the Marvel Universe characters and the MCU versions of those characters and you'll then understand why so many Marvel comic book purists/fans get so many cringe moments when watching a MCU movie. Anyways, with all that said, X-Men Dark Phoenix is good enough movie to go watch and have your 2 hrs of almost 100% escapism from all the daily bs going on. It's absolutely better than Captain Marvel and I truly mean that and on the plus side, there's no Brie Larson in it (that just in itself is good enough of a reason to go see it).
