I went to see this in the theater, which I don't do very often. At the end I just sat there, waiting for more. Yes, it's amazing that they were able to animate this so realistically. Yes, Beyonce's voice was amazing and her songs were beautiful. But I was left feeling the small changes made to the story weren't enough of an update to warrant making this new version. There was no underlying commentary about the progress we've made...just dramatic old-world theatrics. I felt like I had gone to see Hamlet acted out by animals. It was heavy and a bit too much without the bright animated looks of the original to lighten things up.
