The new owner of the Cleveland Indians, former showgirl Rachel Phelps (Margaret Whitton), has a sweetheart deal to move the team to Miami. But to break the lease with the city of Cleveland, ticket sales have to plummet. So Phelps hires the most incompetent players available, including near-blind pitcher Rick Vaughn (Charlie Sheen) and injury-prone catcher Jake Taylor (Tom Berenger). But her villainous tactics accidentally foster a can-do team spirit, turning the Indians into potential winners.

It has its moments, but it also has long, slow stretches where you feel like standing up and wandering around and maybe going out to hunt up a beer. That's fine for baseball, but it's not the way movies are supposed to work.

one of my go-to movies, i watched Major League frequently over the years and it never gets old. The love story with Berenger and Russo is a bit unnecessary, but this is the only criticism i have, its a funny movie with a touch of gritty realism, a great cast with Sheen, Berenger, Snipes etc. and i guess one of the most iconic uses of the song "Wild Thing" (or any song in a movie) in the finale.
