I put it in my holiday movie category faves including Home For The Holidays and The Family Stone. I am excited to see what else Kate and her son have to collaborate on together. See more Wayne M @Wayne93 Feb 18 Goodbye June is a small family drama that even though it is perfectly fine on the surface feels a little underwhelming in the end. The film marks the directorial debut for Kate Winslet, who also stars in the film. The film takes place in England at Christmas, when family members gather around their dying mother June. We have her husband Bernie and her children Julia, Molly and Helen. The family is quite fractured. Especially Julia and Molly who are quite distant. Each in their own ways are trying to come to terms with the past and the present. Despite the set up the film feels rather inert and sedate. It should make for well considered drama, but rather feels a little limp. It has a fiine cast, Winslet, Toni Collette and Andrea Riseborough. But ultimately feels like a misfire. See more Horror fan 4 @Horrorfan4life Feb 6 From the start we meet a family who's brought together because of a loved one being hospitalized. We then find out it's the mother who been brought in. Then we meet the siblings and grandkids. It all happens two weeks before Christmas and eventually leads into Christmas. This was a really good family drama and yes I shed some tears but in reality we've all been there. I did feel however that some performances were realistic and others were generic.
