Nicolas Cage delivers a gloriously pulpy performance that makes every quip and thwip crackle in Spider-Noir -- a dazzling, stylish blend of hard-boiled storytelling and pure comic book verve.

Cage has enormous fun with all of this but also establishes that his character sometimes is primarily a spider and physicalizes that in a way that's just a riot. If you saw him in "Vampire's Kiss," you're familiar with his brand of unbridled acting. Go to Full Review

It’s a lot of fun, acting and direction are exemplary, and its parade of thieves, grifters, and bouncers are wonderfully evil. Go to Full Review

Nicolas Cage gives a four-star performance in a three-star Spidey-adjacent series that is almost but not quite as gloriously unhinged as he is playing a 1930’s gumshoe who’s 70 percent Humphrey Bogart and 30 percent Bugs Bunny. Go to Full Review

It pays homage to classic detective films of the 1940s, employing a well-executed black-and-white aesthetic (there is also an alternative in True Colour), and working as a contained, ambitious, and entertaining narrative. [Full review in Spanish]. Go to Full Review

I had a very specific idea of what Spider-Noir would be about and the show was exactly what I expected. That is a wonderful thing. It perfectly encapsulated the aesthetics of that era, down to the way each shot was framed and presented. Go to Full Review

haoming Z @usr_H.Z 30m Vintage Spider-Man, poor relationship story. See more Brandon K @TheKeizer 8h This is pure trash, how on earth is it so highly rated? Its super low budget, the sets are terrible, acting is terrible, only reason to even give this a try is because of nick cage and man was he not the right guy to play spiderman. Are you kidding me with this? Its awful. See more D S @DSONDOR 11h I guess I'm jaded and a show snob. I just can't buy Cage at 62 as anything but a washed up guy with dyed hair. Speaking as someone who is one year younger than he in real life, his character just doesn't ring true. Also, its supposed to be the 20s? 30s? Where is the rampant overt racism minorities? What, did they decide to leave that part out? Lamorne Morris is dressed as a p.i.m.p. in an orange outfit, walking the streets along with white folks like they wouldn't punch his lights out or worse. They had separate drinking fountains and bathrooms and buses back then. So much of this show glosses over the realities and what, because its a different universe its all forgiven? The writing is dull, the pacing is slow, the characters are lackluster. I really wanted to like the show. Truly. But Cage looks like a ghoul, more like Dracula than an alternate version of Spiderman. I dunno. My opinions are lookist and snobbish but I had a hard time swallowing the Sam Malone schmaltz. See more John D @Silverino 13h Great gritty noir take on Spider-Man. The black & white works well and the lighting makes it almost feel colorful. I usually don't like black & white but this one works perfectly well. It's got some action, but the series lives on the witty dialog, tension, and gritty characters. I hope we'll get to see a second season. See more Sybil W @Syberia 15h Nicholas Cage is so much fun to watch in this, but the show really does drag when he's not in the scene. The acting and writing in those scenes don't match his energy. See more Kenton C. @Joethebanker1992 1d Nicolas Cage was born to give us this role. The storylines are compelling, the acting is fantastic, and the respect and homage that is paid to the style of film deserves praise. It’s an amazing Spider-Man story that was perfectly executed. It’s so good. I don’t know how they do a season two without 1000% confidence in their next idea. They have set the bar so high, it will be nearly impossible to reach again. I would be pleased if this is the only season they make. Worth it! See more Read all reviews
