George R.R. Martin's best-selling book series "A Song of Ice and Fire" is brought to the screen as HBO sinks its considerable storytelling teeth into the medieval fantasy epic. It's the depiction of two powerful families -- kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars and honest men -- playing a deadly game for control of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, and to sit atop the Iron Throne. Martin is credited as a co-executive producer and one of the writers for the series, whose shooting locations include Northern Ireland, Malta, Croatia and Spain.

By Episode 3, though, the action is as riveting as ever. And a superb addition to the new season is Diana Rigg as Lady Olenna. Go to Full Review

Game of Thrones offers a stern rebuke to genre elitism: it is not only a grand adventure, but a series that pushes the medium of television drama into new fields. Go to Full Review

Combines a sophisticated and beautifully shot narrative maintaining a vastly conceived, intricate pattern of diverging and converging plot streams but it is also very, very simple... It may be the purest escapism ever devised. Go to Full Review

[Game of Thrones] is dark, ribald, dramatic and sometimes awe-inspiring; it may not be Tolkien, and that may be a blessing. Go to Full Review

Seth H @ScrewGameofthrones Feb 22 Ive taken better dumps then this show. Who celebrates incest like this fan base? They love getting it on with family. See more dogo f @pochita_ Feb 20 9.3/10. Wow. This was certainly an amazing season of television, even if it left a slightly bitter taste by the end. It might be a bit controversial to say but I personally preferred the first two seasons, though I'll explain why. I felt it was a bit of a mixed bag. It had some legendary episodes like And Now His Watch Is Ended, Second Sons (underrated imo) and The Rains of Castamere, which I had to watch twice to truly appreciate, as it was so much to take in. But it had some less good episodes (still 'good' anyways because this is Game of Thrones lol) between all these brilliant ones, which made the pacing feel a bit strange. I definitely preferred how in season two you had the first half with decent episodes and then the second half with a consistent row of amazing episodes. For me, this season wasn't exactly as consistent, and the finale wasn't as strong, but don't get me wrong, it was incredible. Onto season four now! See more Jakey B Feb 19 The series reaches new heights here, amping up the stakes in more shocking ways. I hope there is more rising action moving forward and is seems every season finale is always weaker than the previous episode but overall the character and world building remain investing and immersive. See more Rowan C @RowanC3 Jan 25 Game of Thrones Season 3 is the best season so far, and everything about it was straight peak. I like how there are a lot of different storylines going on, and all of them are entertaining. We got Daenerys' storyline, which ended in her raising a massive army with her 3 medium-sized dragons. Jon Snow's story carried him out of the crows, into the wildlings, and back into the crows when he was injured by his girlfriend, Igrit (Rose Leslie). Bran became a warg, and his goal is to get north of the wall, which did not happen this season. King's Landing has its own story with Jaime returning at the end, and Joffrey still being a terrible king. Robb's story had such a tragic end with the Red Wedding, where his wife, Talisa (Oona Chaplin), his mother Catelyn (Michelle Fairley), and he were all murdered by Walder Frey (David Bradley) for betraying his marriage deal. There was not a single dull moment in this season, and I enjoyed every second. Overall, I think this show will never slow down. See more Frans B @FransB Oct 26 Still delivering top tier suspense, drama, intrigue and lots of twists. Very captivating and still breathtaking. Cast seem to grow with every season, in character and depth and also in significance. Impossible to stop watching, almost intoxicating. See more Venimomoni Sep 4 The worst season in history. I refuse to watch this filth again. Why was it made. I hate the directors too. I only like Arya as a character. This...... show sucks. See more Read all reviews
