In this British drama based on the novel by E.M. Forster, Lucy Honeychurch (Helena Bonham-Carter), a young Englishwoman, is touring Italy with her older cousin (Maggie Smith). At a hotel in Florence, Lucy meets the charming and free-spirited George Emerson (Julian Sands). Although intrigued by George, once she's back in England Lucy ponders settling down with the wealthy, staid Cecil Vyse (Daniel Day-Lewis). When George reappears in her life, Lucy must decide between him and Cecil.

So many characters with boring names, most of the time I just had to take a guess as to who they were talking about, as well as love interests that leave you hoping the protagonist just goes to Athens by herself like she planed, if I wrote this, the ending would be so much different, dare I say better. Helena did fantastic though, along with Maggie Smith and Rupert Graves. 6/10

I love love this movie which I perhaps have watched too many times such that you begin to see wrinkles. But, it may well be me, Julian Sands is miscast, can't act and destroys his part of the movie as unutterable Dead Wood. He ruined perfection.

Such a beautiful movie, most definitely one of my new favourites. The acting, the scenery, the music, the whole atmosphere of the film is complete perfection. It is an absolute must watch film if you are looking for a slow-summer type of movie, filled with romance, depth, and beauty.
