I didn’t read the movie description but the way it was presented I actually thought Ichabod Crane was going to be the headless horsemen. He was really lining up with the headless horsemen’s life. He dressed like the headless horseman, acted like him, and everyone was ganging up against him like what happened to the real headless horseman. The build up was good. Then to find out he wasn’t the horseman and you barely see the horseman but terrible graphics. You don’t see him escape. You don’t see what he did after and you think he died. I was a little let down. I think this story would have made an excellent theme line for the story or the headless horseman and why he became the headless horseman. My kids and I have watched this over and over again thanks to Carver’s hilarious performance. Bucolic setting is well featured along with a score that builds both spook-filled suspense and Ichabod’s ridiculousness effectively. After all, this is no horror story. More of a comedic mystery told amidst the backdrop of our favorite pastoral season. A few of the actors are subpar but not enough to ruin it. Hallmark doesn’t really miss and this one is a winner if you’re an Irving fan. Rest in peace, Mr. Carver. Your Ichabod is legendary in my house.
