We watched Anne over the course of her journey on the Caribbean Sea where she over comes many obstacles with being a woman and falling in love. The shocking plot twists and turn of events throughout the movie will revive your attention through the dull moments on her journey. Though this movie depicts an interesting aspect of female piracy, I'd stick to Pirates of the Caribbean for those who truly appreciate a good pirate movie. See more 01/16/2020 This film largely exaggerates the emotions of women and the perception of pirates. With a strong idea of feminism throughout the film, we see at the end, the patriarch still wins. The cheater lives with his wife, Blackbeard destroys Anne's ship and crew, and Anne is left to sink into the depths. The beginning of the movie is quite enjoyable, with Anne being a true leader on the ship and holding a prestigious name among pirates. However, the movie turns to show how a woman can become unhinged with emotion when a love interest is introduced. The woman now is portrayed to be weak and under the control over her love. Furthermore, the central male character is shown deceiving Anne, going back to meet his wife on Nassau. I do not recommend watching it unless you would like to lose faith in women pirates or if you want more distrust in men. See more 01/16/2020 This movie had the potential to be great but aside from being boring, it could have done more. In the end, there was no real resolution and no character development throughout. If you wanted to watch a fierce pirates movie this would not be it. It started off interesting and devolved into a romance, then it wasn't even a romance. It was kind of all over the place. There was a lot packed into an hour and twenty minutes. We recommend this movie if you have no other options and nothing better to do. See more 01/16/2020 Although this was an action packed movie, it lacked historical accuracy and clarity. This movie tried to demonstrate Anne as a strong and powerful women, yet they seemed to have made her immensely hysterical and controlled by her emotions. If you are looking for a true representation of historical female pirates, this is not the best choice. However, if you need something for your child's pirate themed birthday party, this is a great film to use!
