This alleged comedy has all the structural and performance elements required to create humour, but is stunningly unfunny. Go to Full Review

As far as titles go, Balls Up is about right. This is a disaster. Go to Full Review
Calum Marsh New York Times Apr 16
There are slapstick foibles, sight gags about rubbers, and many, many vulgar jokes — some good for a laugh, though I doubt the film's Oscar prospects. Go to Full Review

The film does itself no favors from the first minutes. Go to Full Review

Mostly this film works, at least on some base level, thanks to the talent involved, and the basic understanding of how to embrace a dumb concept for even dumber laughs. there is something about Balls Up. Go to Full Review

KD F @Megastreamer 4d Love Mark Wahlberg, and there are some funny scenes, but after awhile it's a bit much. I laughed, and for that I liked it, it just isn't his best effort. If you're a Wahlberg fan, you have to see if not just to check the Wahlberg fan box! See more Alfred Junior Karabo T @Lfr3d-junior-k4r4bo 5d it was a good contemporary movie to watch, especially when regarding the world cup in 2026,but I just couldn't see much of the humor in the movie See more Misty M. @Mzteepcb May 25 Was funny, but Steve Carell has definitely had better roles See more Michael S @RT04204866 May 25 Ratings for comedies like this are heavily influenced by demographics, particularly gender, age, and prevailing political sensitivities. Viewers over 50 will likely find the humor hits the mark,..some jokes are deliberately dumb, others land with the kind of lowbrow absurdity that still elicits genuine laughs. Objectively, Ball Up is stronger and funnier than the last three mainstream comedies that received significantly higher critical and audience scores. Unfortunately, today's hyper-sensitive and politically correct climate prevents many people from giving an honest assessment. Fear of being labeled racist or bigoted often overrides straightforward judgment. I originally considered rating this film 3 or 4 stars. However, after reflecting on the current state of comedy and the timid reception it’s receiving, I’ve decided to go with 5 stars. It’s time for audiences to grow a backbone(or balls) and rate movies based on actual entertainment value rather than what’s socially acceptable. See more Capt J. @CaptJane May 25 I can’t believe this has a higher critic rating than Ladies First, that just says a lot about the critics who seem to be mostly men with a bad sense of humor. This movie is SO BAD. The writing and acting is terrible (except for Molly Shannon she’s brilliant but even she couldn’t polish this turd). See more Josh Q @RT63626052 May 23 Yikes. I find most of Wahlberg comedy movies to be decently funny, this one is an exception. "Haha it's a condom that covers your balls" is the entire punchline. Shouldn't be categorized under comedy.
