What to Know

Critics Consensus

A humanistic variation on one of Steven Spielberg's most revisited themes, Disclosure Day's breathless pursuit of optimism in an age of conspiracy gets its biggest boost from career-highlight work by Emily Blunt.

A spectacle by a master filmmaker who’s out to prove that alien conspiracies are worth our attention. Go to Full Review

Blunt’s Margaret doesn’t just experience the overwhelming wonder we associate with so many Spielberg characters — she embodies it. She’s in a constant state of discovery and awe. Go to Full Review

Spielberg’s vision in Disclosure Day suggests audacity, even recklessness, two qualities that have often been wanting in his movies. There’s a sense of freedom, of a work pulled from deep within. Go to Full Review

There are a lot of grandiose ideas about extraterrestrial contact and humanity's place in the universe, but the movie never taps into the emotional core to hold everything together. Go to Full Review

Breathless succession of setpieces, each with their own internal logic... like the most joyous of Hitchcock... It’s Earth by Northwest. Sweet apotheosis, often gorgeous anthology of Spielberg’s worlds warring still. Go to Full Review

Danielle 51m Went and with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. It kept me on the edge of the seat for most of the movie towards the end. It was dragging a little, but I liked the way they wrapped it up. See more T.J. 1h A lot of interesting ideas but not well executed. Acting is good but there is no depth to any characters. Adult ideas but not adult in any other way. ok movie but underwhelming. See more jordiekinns 1h nothing shocking here. and the ending left more questions than answers. what the hell did the Alien say???? See more D 2h Refreshing, not the typical oversimplified comedy, repetitive storylines of action movies. Appreciate mix of drama, action, suspense, and mystery. See more Jacquie H 2h My husband and I both saw this movie and we both agreed we were not impressed in the least, I didn’t necessarily like the writing. Not Steven Spielberg’s best. Would not recommend. I did like ET though! See more Robert 2h powerful message that we are not alone and mankind needs to humble themselves before the vastness and unknown within our universe See more Read all reviews
