There's nothing about El Camino that is essential; while it won't tarnish your memories of the original series, it won't reframe or enhance them, either. It's a nice ride with some old friends. Sometimes, that's just enough.

White is one of the great characters of recent memory. He dominates the story of Breaking Bad like few characters. Pinkman doesn’t carry this story in quite the same way.

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie was an okay watch overall. As a standalone film, it works reasonably well and provides closure to Jesse Pinkman’s story. However, when compared to Breaking Bad, it does not reach the same level of intensity or impact. The series set an exceptionally high standard, which makes the film feel less compelling in comparison.

Interesante de ver después de terminar la serie de Breaking Bad (asumo que quienes la vieron en el 2019 estaban perdidos), pero nada del otro mundo. Permite ver como Jesse por fin lograr estar en paz, lo cual es lindo.

Just finished BB and loved it! Was recommended ElCamino by friends but it really underwhelmed. The truly wild piece of cinema which Jesse’s crazed laughter as he escaped in the el Camino promised was usurped by this drab and slow moving revisiting of old relationships which didn’t offer any new developments or uncover new motivations. Sub par handling of time frames, ordinary soundtrack and poor pacing were on display and the sometimes excellent photography and believable dialogue did not make up for an unimaginative treatment of a story that should have been able to stand up on it’s own merits rather than just prop up The Breaking Bad brand. Disappointing but I am looking forward to seeing better call Saul. 🙏
