Par H @Parhwy 4d This review contains significant spoilers and strong themes… It has been a long, long time since a film genuinely threw in a twist which blew my mind. And this film did it not with plot, it did it with genre. Let me explain… I thought this film was going to be a quirky, folksy smalltown American tale about a kid with a fantastical medical condition who falls in love. My notes reflect that for the first half. At that point, I even started to extrapolate. I usually live in the moment in most films. I hoped that Max’s and Erica’s timelines merge and resolve. I had reservations when Max and Erica had an It’s A Wonderful Life moment… I kept on viewing thinking, hoping this will be a quirky, folksy film. Fair warning: this film breaks your heart, and it touches on suicide, dementia, murder, and euthanasia. This is a good film. Just… wow. Rewatch? No. Should you watch it? Yes. See more Kyle M 02/14/2024 While the dark humor may not suit well for some, also bruised by a pointless plot point looking for an additional comedic outlet for unnecessary lightened balance, it sets the satirical tone over teenage health complications cinematically depicted and emotionally absorbed, which its charismatic pair sweetly excelled. See more Sean M 04/11/2023 Wow that was actually really good! Very underrated movie. Well directed and acted. A bit sad though as it deals with loss. Would highly recommend! See more Courtney K @c0urtn3y 01/01/2023 this was super cute; the storyline could've been executed very poorly, but i think they did a great job with it. it was really quite funny with just the right amount serious/sincerity. the only thing i couldn't get over was why he needed the bandage wrapped around the top of his head/bottom of his chin... it didn't aid in covering his face & it's not like they were pretending he was sick since everyone knew about him. i feel like he was old enough where they could've come up with a better strategy there, haha.
