Ana (Grace Van Patten) finds herself transported to a dreamlike and dangerous coastline. Once there, she joins a female army engaged in a never-ending war where the women lure men to their deaths with radio signals, like 20th century sirens. Though Ana finds strength in this exhilarating world, she comes to realize she is not the killer they want her to be.

Filmmaker Karen Cinorre's initially provocative vision of misandrist vengeance at least makes Mayday worth a look. Go to Full Review

It's an interesting cast and it's a beautiful film. Kind of falls apart by the end, but I liked it for a while. Go to Full Review

Despite a strong ensemble of actors and some impressive photography, Mayday drowns inside its own overambitions. Go to Full Review

Despite a clunky final act that over-explains in a way that ultimately just confuses its theme of female empowerment and revenge, Mayday really makes an impression. Go to Full Review

What helps make Mayday a riveting experience rather than an obnoxious experimental exercise is the cast and crew Cinorre puts together. Go to Full Review

The movie offers two prominent points of view, and some clever musings about being a woman in today’s world, that make it a fun and inspiring entry in the feminist catalog. Go to Full Review

Philip G. @Kurosawa 18h Any movie with Mia Goth is going to be fun and interesting, even it doesn’t make much sense. One reviewer said it should have been better and I believe that’s true. However, I enjoyed this more that are admittedly better. See more MA M @scary_ann 3d A stunning film and a must-watch. The plot unfolds similarly to the classical ballet, Giselle. A small group of young women who have died welcome a new recruit into their afterlife, in which their central focus is killing men. Each of them appears to have a story in their real lives of being controlled and harmed by men, and heaven, for them, is vengeance. Like Giselle, the newest among them finds that the killing is not for her. Beautifully written and acted. A dreamy, surrealist masterpiece. See more Spencer S. @sybilson 5d This is a good movie albeit tricky to interpret. But it is a good portrayal of ideation of an action community guidelines isn't letting me use the word for, and a message of choosing to see the stars through the darkness. See more Aaron O. @goatley1 Feb 23 Regardless of the symbolism, the similarities to sirens, this is totally lame. The plot goes nowhere, and we're supposed to believe that this girl offed herself because she was bullied by her manager? It's like girl interrupted meets lord of the flies. Only not near as cognizant as either film. Definitely don't recommend. See more Felipe O @LittleLordFauntleroy Feb 23 This feminist fever dream didn't get the attention it deserved when it came out a few years ago. I'm hoping its availability on Netflix changes that. With stunning visuals and excellent performances, Karen Cinorre's debut feature is both rivetting adventure and a fascinating nod to the siren myth. See more Kiersten W. @KierstenWanner Feb 19 I felt as if there was too much information packed into the movie. Too many threads which in turn left a lot of loose ends. The story seemed to shift its goal multiple times throughout the movie. I’m not a huge fan altogether. See more Read all reviews
