A truly sensitive portrayal of Jerry Stiller and Ann Meara through the eyes of their son Ben and daughter Amy. What made this documentary pop out was not only the insights on how our parents shape us and yet still remain mysterious, but the vulnerability and authenticity of both Stiller and Meara, as well as the family they left behind. The movie made me reflect on my own parents and my childhood - something I never expected.

I see a lot of documentaries and biopics where celebrity kids are involved, usually on the theory that they know their parents best or they are the best stewards of their legacies. Here, Ben Stiller explores the idea that our parents will always be a mystery to us, and we can only struggle to understand how they shape our future lives and relationships.

This was a very sweet and funny movie! It displayed that ALL marriages have ups and downs but if you and your spouse really want it to work…. You have to continue working on the marriage. Even Ben got separated from his wife and then had this moment of clarity…to save his marriage and family. Most people just can’t deal with low moments in marriage and leave so early….makes me sad. But totally enjoyed this movie!
