Jean Latimer (Elizabeth Taylor) has a very comfortable life, much of which is due to the efforts of her lawyer father, Steve (William Powell). One day, however, Jean falls for one of his clients, a dangerous gangster named Victor Y. Raimondi (Fernando Lamas). She leaves her boyfriend, the stable Vance Court (Gig Young), and tensions rise between her and her father. Will love triumph in the end, or will Jean do as her father wishes, abandoning Victor to justice?

The cast performs competently but the story is hackneyed and predictable. Go to Full Review

06/27/2022 Well, its like a soap-opery thing that is so hackneyed and dated at this point it is actually painful to watch. It us interesting to see Elizabeth Taylor's outrageous figure in 1953. Watch in the middle to see that, say wow! And then turn it off before you get nauseous. See more 04/25/2019 Not well done. Taylor messes up her part, and Powell is not given much to work with. See more 03/13/2018 Fun to see William Powell in his "father" role. Still plays a good drunk in a couple of scenes. Elizabeth Taylor is gorgeous. Far from the best picture for either star. See more 08/23/2014 Not bad, but the 60+ minute run time makes the film feel rushed. See more 03/26/2014 Elizabeth Taylor is a bored rich girl daughter of high powered lawyer, William Powell (in his third to last film appearance), who falls for Powell's latest client, gambling kingpin Fernando Lamas (father of Lorenzo Lamas). It's a pretty dull story, but there's a good cast, which also includes Gig Young and James Whitmore, who are more than capable of carrying the film along. André Previn also provides the film a nice score. See more 05/03/2013 A very tedious hour and nine minutes. Everyone is just going through the motions here. See more Read all reviews
