The question of whether a mass audience is going to go for such a down-in-the-mouth interpretation is hard to guess... But Sarnoski’s beautifully made and surpassingly bleak period piece is fascinating nevertheless. Go to Full Review

It’s as if the movie itself grasps that four is better than two -- a lesson that has a very specific application where the characters are concerned. Go to Full Review

There’s plenty of fun to be had here, and that’s not without understanding that some deeper themes can and will emerge to add some additional layers to what could easily feel like an enjoyable trifle. Go to Full Review

Despite its noncommittal destination, The Invite makes for a nerve-racking journey for much of its runtime... An entertaining mirror of romantic disillusionment in middle age. Go to Full Review

Nicholas E @RT21361244 May 2 Super funny, astounding direction and acting, a great use of Seth Rogen and Ed Norton, with a score that gives this a special kind of personality. Olivia Wilde loaded up the bases knocked this one out of the park. The cast is all around great, but she takes this thing up a notch. I love what she is doing behind and in front of the camera. Her acting choices are great, and the performance manages to feel both thoughtful and organic. I also love where she chooses to put the camera. Whether it be us at a distance from the characters, or right up in their space for comedic or dramatic purposes. It feels intentionally shot and made with care. I think this movie is a total win for Wilde and Co. and I’m glad I got to experience it in a theater. Her movie is thoughtful. It’s hilarious with mature sensibilities too. Probably the most I’ve consistently and hardily laughed in a while. It left me with a lot to chew on too. I love it for that. It’s a special one.
