George R.R. Martin's best-selling book series "A Song of Ice and Fire" is brought to the screen as HBO sinks its considerable storytelling teeth into the medieval fantasy epic. It's the depiction of two powerful families -- kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars and honest men -- playing a deadly game for control of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, and to sit atop the Iron Throne. Martin is credited as a co-executive producer and one of the writers for the series, whose shooting locations include Northern Ireland, Malta, Croatia and Spain.

There is something courageous about a television series that is brave enough to reimagine Richard III as a hero. Go to Full Review

Game of Thrones finally finished, the last episode aptly titled The Long Night and it was a terrible ending, disappointing for fans, causing a collective cringe around the globe. Go to Full Review

[This season] made choices that I just didn't understand...you have to wrap it up somehow, and this season is just full of more extremes and it just doesn't work anymore or fit in with the rest... Go to Full Review

After George RR Martin's books ended, the show's mojo seemed to follow. It may have still constituted event TV, but in retrospect that was based on the strength of the fan community and massive marketing more than the material itself. Go to Full Review

SHOCKING things happened just because they had shock value. They bore no connection to anything else that had happened before them. There was hardly any organic, believable storytelling leading up to those moments. Thus, they felt shallow. Go to Full Review

Nique H @NiquenotDom 2d Unable to leave half a star. None of these reviews are exaggerating. It wasn’t just a “bad ending”, they took all seven seasons of character development, relationships, nuance, and threw it all away- especially regarding Daenerys. It’s not even just that she changed, it was like the flick of a switch. People compare the Stranger Things final season to this one, but that’s like comparing jalapeños to strawberries. Stranger Things Season 5 was a masterpiece compared to this. At least the Duffer Brothers didn’t intentionally screw over their viewers like the GoT head honchos did with GoT fans. The first 5-7 seasons are so good I’d still recommend watching this series- I just highly recommending pretending S8 was never made. See more Mr. B @Uijgfcc Aug 4 Always meant to leave a review, but just like Danny and the Ironborn's literal Ironfleet of ships I guess I forgot. Truly a masterful and creative work that needs to be studied for centuries at how they managed to ruin it. Poor directing and terrible writing didn't just drag this show down, they sent it into a full spiral nosedive into a mountain side to explode in a cloud of flatulence. I pray David and Daniel are never given more work/ opportunity to ruin anything they touch. It's very sad that it got caught up in an internet psychodrama. Would have liked to have seen the further adventures of Arya Stark as an animated series but you can't have it all I guess. See more Kristian T @RT26323943 Jul 31 How anyone could give a low rating to a series that brought with it Episodes like The Long Night or The Bells is beyond me. Some of the most exhilarating television ever made. Whether you liked the ending or not, it was in hindsight the only ending that could have made sense. They broke the wheel and changed the system. Just putting Jon Snow on the throne would have defeated the whole object of killing Daenerys in the first place. It's how it had to end and I loved every second of every episode. See more James C @jecavs Jul 25 It may have not been the best of the series but it was still very good. I enjoyed it very much. The last episode was a little weak, but whatever, pick your own ending at that point. See more Read all reviews
