Six old friends head for a relaxing weekend away only to learn that one couple in the group is about to split up. The three couples, Kate and Jack, Nick and Anne, and Danny and Claude, are completely upended by the news. Over the course of a year, we follow the friends on four vacations, and watch how this shake-up affects everyone’s dynamic -- sending old issues and new bubbling to the surface.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Welcoming as a lakeside vista and occasionally just as placid, The Four Seasons isn't as breezily funny as creator Tina Fey's best work but often just as witty and wise.

Mostly a gentle comedy that sometimes bares teeth. But it definitely has that Fey vibe, which means it’s a pleasure just to spend time in that world. Go to Full Review

After you've met cute, overcome obstacles and fallen in love, what's next, and what's in store for the next 25 years? "The Four Seasons" may not have all the answers, but at least it asks some of the right questions. Go to Full Review

The Four Seasons paddles in without ever diving truly, madly, deeply into the troubles bedevilling these charm-free chumps. Go to Full Review

The writing is witty and smart, the banter and misunderstandings between the friends feel very real and lived, although it does stumble at one point when the balancing of comedy with a tragic moment feels a bit off. Go to Full Review

All I could see watching this take on The Four Seasons was evidence of joke opportunities producers let go by. Go to Full Review

Its gentleness is its strength. Here, friends don’t fight over politics and can afford nice holidays four times a year. A “hymn to ordinariness” it might be, but ordinariness is comforting -- exotic even -- in these relentlessly extraordinary times. Go to Full Review

Matt W. @radiomime Jun 26 This is mature in humor and subject matter. The characters are rich, the relationships relatable and understandable, and the storytelling unique. I came in with low expectations, and left feeling a bit heartbroken and inspired; it’s a weird one, but in a good way See more Kathryn L @RT78716972 Jun 17 I watched this because it was new to Netflix and I was looking for something, anything to watch, next thing I knew I'd watched the whole thing and had been completely entertained. It's the kind of show I would normally watch without my Mam, she is picky when it comes to comedy, but there was something about this show that I thought my Mam would enjoy it. So within days of watching it alone I was watching it again with her, firstly, I enjoyed watching it again, and second, I was right she really enjoyed it and is looking forward to a Season 2. Asked to describe it to my Auntie she found it difficult except to say it was about life, just things that happen to lots of folk every day, good, bad, funny, sad, maddening, every emotion coming out in this group of friends. We both thought the concept of this group meeting up each season is fantastic and really clever. Roll on Season 2 See more Terry V. @MissTerry916 Jun 17 Watched both seasons. Likes Season 1 better slightly. Love Daniel and Claude, Love the last S2 episode, can't wait to see David Tennant and Anne in Season 3. Hoping Kate and Jack get their act together. See more Noah K. @noah-1 Jun 15 Absolutely full of life See more Suz B @RT17527865 Jun 11 Jokes felt forced and characters did not connect. No flow to the season. None of the characters had a natural chemistry. Felt like they all were doing a one act play. See more Fabrizio L. @RT44250027 Jun 8 Season 1 is great! And season 2 AMAZING! See more Read all reviews
