Insomniac X @RT03001349 01/27/2025 A pulpy, culty botched-heist feature that plays like a hybrid of 1960’s noir and a “heroic bloodshed” style Hong Kong movie. The film takes inspiration from the meticulously plotted racetrack heist of Kubrick’s 1956 “The Killing” in its first half, then descends into a series of betrayals and shootouts. Overall, short on brains but long on style and action. Bonus points for being the first heist movie where a box truck is used to capture an armored car. Isso ajuda a que "Cruel Gun Story" seja um vibrante noir mesmo tendo estreado em 1964. Nem sempre a Nikkatsu acerta em cheio, mas o mais difícil é mesmo fazer um filme que não valha a pena ver. Para seu bem, "Cruel Gun Story" encontra alguma inspiração em "The Killing", de Stanley Kubrick, e obtém o melhor rendimento possível do cavalo que decide montar. See more 03/04/2012 After serving a prison sentence to avenge his sister's paralyzing accident, Togawa is released early from prison in order to knock off an armored truck. But nothing is at it seems in this pulpy noir full of gun fire and smoking. The movie does a pretty good job of wracking up the tension, but the plot loses steam after the whole armored truck job. Things sort of just happen and characters die without any real tension or suspense, and it ends on a sad note. A well made crime thriller noir with a great soundtrack and actors, but not the best plot. See more Read all reviews
