Blu B @RT43513976 Dec 3 Yeah it's pretty harmless stuff honestly and clearly met for 90's kids. There is a nostalgia factor to seeing such a innocent time. But beyond that there really isn't nothing here. The editing and pacing isn't good and everything else is just ok. It feels like after we establish Richie's character in the first 10 minutes it can never figure out what to make of any of the plot elements it sets up in a cohesive ay where it doesn't feel like stuff jsut happens. Him wanting to be a kid, running the company, his parents missing, it all feels like seperate stories hoenstly and we jump around. The friends are all super forgettable, the villian is your standard 90's I'm doing it for money and power villian like in Billy Madison, and the humor is just harmless kid fun. It's not toilet humor or anything like that but just very harmless stuff and nothing clever. The acting is very one note and cheesy. Richie is just very monotone the entire time. While the plot is absurd and it's hard to take anything seriously, that's kind of the point. The McDonalds, the roller coaster, tag, the dad tracker, the kid-apult, the experiments, Mount Richmore, there are so many elements of this movie that are memorable and fun to watch. Also, I thought that Kevin McCallister was already rich, but this is a different level! Best Character: Cadbury. Best Quote: "Well... I'm already wanted for attempted murder, escaping from jail, and blowing up an aircraft. Breaking and entering sounds right up my alley. Let's kick some butt, shall we?" - Cadbury. I thought I remembered it from my childhood, but upon watching it again, I realized I had forgotten nearly everything about it. This experience got me reflecting on the nature of creativity in Hollywood—whether it truly endures or if it tends to be fleeting. Take "The Wizard of Oz," for example, which was released in 1939. That film has an enduring quality; its memorable scenes and characters stay with you long after viewing. In contrast, when I watched "Richie Rich" as an adult, I found it hard to recall any significant details about the story. While the film had its fun moments, there were instances where I found myself questioning whether Culkin's character was actually speaking or if there was a voiceover because it sometimes didn’t even sound like him. This left me feeling disoriented and confused throughout the film. The characters were quite corny, the family dynamics felt cheesy, and the overall plot was goofy. It was entertaining in its own way, but I doubt I would revisit it outside of this review, which was a practice we didn't engage in back then. I ended up taking two days to finish it because I had to pause several times; it just didn't hold my interest. That said, if you're looking for something to pass the time, I suppose I could recommend checking it out as a filler. However, I wouldn't label it as a great cinematic experience that you'll love from start to finish. It suffers from misdirection and poorly written dialogue, making it difficult to fully enjoy. See more Igor S @Igor_Sena 01/17/2025 Man, i wanted to give this a positive review. This was one of my favourite movies as a kid. I had a nostalgia thing today and went back to watch it. It is kind of a bad movie. I think what made me love this as a kid, was the fact that this kid had a rollercoster at his house, plus a few gadgets. I was also a huge Macaulay Culkin too, and was tired of watching the first 2 home alone movies(i watched them all the time) so that definitely helped. If you are a Macaulay Culkin fan as well, watch it. But don't expect much, because it doesn't have the same heart as home alone did.
