What to Know

Critics Consensus

Beef pairs its second season with winning performers and a crackling sense of ingenuity in a saga that Lee Sung Jin perfectly anchors through his mastery of class satire and the unexpected modes of human nature.

If “Beef” were solely about the corrosiveness of rage, this season’s rivalry wouldn’t be worth slicing into. But Lee marbles other theories and indictments into his meat concerning the privilege of extreme emotion and behavioral honesty. Go to Full Review

This could all get a bit relentless and wearing, but fortunately the quality of the writing carries it as satire and not as nihilism. Go to Full Review
Graeme Blundell The Australian 3d
At times, it presents situations that are both thought-provoking and disquieting, and as a comedy it’s wry and sardonic rather than laugh-out-loud in effect, the humour dark and bitingly satirical. Go to Full Review

Creator Lee Sung Jin has once again given his audience riveting storytelling that feels part soap opera, part satire, part camp and its explosive from the jump. Go to Full Review

A dark, ambitious return, Beef Season 2 expands into class conflict and toxic relationships with a stellar cast, but loses the emotional precision that made the first season unforgettable. Go to Full Review
Andrew Anthony Observer (UK) 2d
Mulligan is terrific as a kind of caustic grifter, determined to get richer and yet contemptuous, in that refined English way, of the bores who’ve made it. Go to Full Review

adam W @RT33264647 6h If I never hear Carey Mulligan shouting winey voice ever again I will be happy. I LOVED Beef season one - what happened ??? Shallow characters, a plot that moves too fast, as for the Korean cosmetic surgeon storyline - whatttttt? I had to stop watching after episode 5. See more Andrew T @BubNubbins 7h Signed up just to write a review for this season, which blew the first out of the water. BY A LOT the first season was an entertaining revenge story. Enemies who reach an understanding they are the two sides of the same coin. But that's all it was. Cute at best This is those same themes plus a complexity and depth that is so far beyond anything the first season approached it's almost like they were written by somebody else I genuinely can't understand the low reviews unless these people literally wanted the exact same show with different characters I went into this not expecting much and it blew me away Ignore the low scores and watch this now. Masterful storytelling that sticks the landing at the end (unlike the goofy AF conclusion of season 1) See more Ruben M. @PapiKnowsBest 12h Had it's good moments but few and far between. Story felt scattered and slow paced. Did not have the intensity of a real "beef" situation. Ending was completely unsatisfying. See more Kerry W @RT10098561 16h It wasn't BEEF, it didn't illicit any of the same feelings from the first season. Character development was downright drab for all the men, but great for all the women. Really just felt like I was watching White Lotus from Temu. The ending was absolutely disappointing as well, made no sense at all. You think doing drugs once changes your entire personality? Lazy, pretentious, and boring compared to the first season, definitely should NOT have been BEEF season 2, should've been called CORNY. See more Habibah H @jakescakes 1d They're trying so hard to send emotional messages, but I just turned out so cringeworthy and overdone. nothing like the first season. See more Joshua M @Flameon 2d Where's the beef? This is one of those "creative" series you try to like because the acting is good, but ultimately is a waste of time. See more Read all reviews
