What to Know

Critics Consensus

Nicolas Cage delivers a gloriously pulpy performance that makes every quip and thwip crackle in Spider-Noir -- a dazzling, stylish blend of hard-boiled storytelling and pure comic book verve.

So, Spider-Noir feels right. But it also feels more like a hybrid of that early Batman and HBO’s 2020 series Perry Mason (starring Matthew Rhys) than it does a descendant of Marvel’s comic book Spider-Man Noir... Go to Full Review

Something of a stunt, but one that offers a reasonable, (imperfectly) period-appropriate approach to the material Go to Full Review

Spider-Noir is just another disposable exercise in IP maintenance, but in the end, it's best remembered as one more stop on the endlessly fascinating Nic Cage train before it barrels onto the next destination. Go to Full Review

It should please many, but it isn’t something I’m rushing to watch more of. The series looks gorgeous and has a nice vibe, but it also has way too many characters. I have too many other titles on my watch list to... Go to Full Review

Spider-Noir transforms Marvel’s iconic hero into a shadowy detective thriller, with Nicolas Cage delivering a chaotic yet captivating performance in Prime Video’s boldest superhero series yet. Go to Full Review

There’s actually not a lot of action in the expected, web-slinging sense. The beauty of this series is that it finds its real pleasures, its raison d’être, elsewhere: not as superhero spectacle but as mood, texture and attitude. Go to Full Review

kendra J. @RT89419867 45m ten out of ten love how you can switch from colorful scene to black and white to watch the series 😎😎 See more Guilherme H @RT57420875 50m Nicolas Cage, Li Jun Li, Jack Huston, Brendan Gleeson – a spectacular cast and spectacular acting. This series truly surprised me. See more William L @formerlygrateful 1h The combination of classic noir and the unique Nicolas Gage made me binge this, though I very rarely watch in this way. It is refreshingly original entertainment and the first Spider Man related creation in a long time that was really exciting. See more J H @hange 2h Meh ... - Still race and body-positivity swapping characters. And neither of them is enjoyable - as always with agenda casting. - The show seems designed to create an ensemble cast - where it should be a tight noir detective focus. - The noir style is not consequently applied which makes the whole show murky. Style wise. Sets also often don't match and look cheap. - The acting is not consequent and does not fit. It's not immersive. This includes the dialog which is to modern and casual. If you want the whole thing to be seen in black and white for immersion, you should adjust the acting and dialog. - The cinematography is abysmal. They show rain-fall in the middle of the day - as if that would add anything to a noir theme. Even in black and white it looks bad. In fact, most scenes are lit too bright and lack proper style. - It's also full of fillers. Nothing really happens. An episode is 40 min long and more happens in cartoons that half as long. - Cage is good. Not enough thou. See more AK K @JarJarFan 2h Nothing interesting has happened so far. That was a painfully boring and slow start. Let's hope it picks up. See more Ethan F @RT97697262 3h Is bold, weird, and refreshingly free from superhero fatigue. It's not trying to save the universe it's trying to tell a gritty, character driven story about a broken man trying to be a hero again. Cage's performance, and the commitment to noir aesthetics make it worth watching. See more Read all reviews
